The #AskForIt consent campaign began early in 2022 with proceeds donated from the Brave Noise Beer brewed by Rebellion Brewing. The campaign was created in response to a study from the Canadian Women’s Foundation which found that 55 percent of people in Canada do not fully understand what sexual consent is.
The #AskForIt consent campaign is a light-hearted approach to highlight how we all have a role to play in preventing sexual violence. The campaign aims to create conversations about consent and safe drinking cultures across Saskatchewan, highlighting the importance of asking for consent and bystander intervention. It is a reclamation of the phrase ask for it/asking for it which has often been used to blame individuals who have experienced sexual violence. The #AskForIt campaign reclaims this phrase, putting the onus on individuals initiating sexual activity to ask for and receive informed consent.
With funding from Rebellion Brewing an initial video, poster, and coaster were created and shared.

Thanks to funding from the Saskatchewan Liquor and Gaming Authority, SASS was able to continue sharing the #AskForIt campaign with individuals across Saskatchewan. Through this funding, SASS was able to print and distribute over 75,000 campaign materials to over 100 Saskatchewan communities. This funding also allowed for the creation of two more #AskForIt videos by Honey Cut Studios which focus on bystander intervention.
