Shining a LightIn Saskatchewan, the issue of sexual violence continues to persist and rise at concerning rates. Currently, the province has one of the highest rates of sexual assault victimization in Canada at 104 incidents per 100,000 (Conroy & Cotter, 2017). Perpetrators of sexual violence are often family members, significant others, friends, and acquaintances.
This brief analyzes the root causes of sexual violence. It highlights the complex societal, cultural, and systemic factors contributing to its prevalence (Wells, 2024).
